BLSTRSANDER SPOT REPAIR
WHY IT'S DIFFERENT

Even a small damaged area can become the starting point for corrosion.

The BLSTR sander wasn't developed to replace large-scale abrasive blasting in fabrication shops. It was engineered for one of the most expensive challenges in industrial maintenance: localized surface preparation and spot repair. Industrial-grade protective coating systems are normally applied in controlled factory environments after full abrasive blasting. These multi-layer systems, often exceeding 1 mm dry film thickness (DFT), protect valuable assets against corrosion for decades. But once structures are transported, installed or put into service, coating damage becomes unavoidable.

TYPICAL DAMAGE
01Mechanical damage during transport or lifting
02Scratches during assembly and installation
03Weld repairs and structural modifications
04Corrosion around bolts, welds and edges
05Damage from inspections or maintenance
06Local coating failures from impact or abrasion

Even a small damaged area can expose bare steel and become the starting point for corrosion, threatening the long-term integrity of the entire asset.

The challenge of conventional spot repair.

Repairing only a few square centimetres often requires the same logistics as repairing several square metres.

TRADITIONAL ABRASIVE BLASTING NEEDS
01Large air compressors
02Long air hoses
03Abrasive blasting pots
04Containment systems
05Dust control
06Safety barriers
07Additional personnel
08Significant setup and dismantling time

In many cases the preparation and mobilisation take far longer, and cost far more, than the actual blasting itself.

Designed for real industrial maintenance.

The BLSTR sander eliminates most of this complexity. Simply connect the unit to electrical power, add abrasive, and start surface preparation exactly where it is needed. Its portable design lets operators work efficiently in confined spaces, elevated locations and inside structures where conventional compressor blasting is difficult, expensive or simply impractical.

Reduce downtime. Reduce logistics. Increase flexibility.

SIX REASONS

For industrial spot repair, productivity isn't only measured in square metres per hour. The real savings come from:

01
Eliminating compressor mobilisation..
02
Reducing setup time..
03
Lower labour requirements..
04
Faster intervention after coating damage..
05 · 06
Reduced downtime of valuable assets. High-quality surface preparation exactly where it's required..

The BLSTR sander makes professional abrasive blasting available wherever maintenance needs to be performed, without the complexity of traditional blasting equipment.

SUPPORT

Spot repair questions.

What the BLSTR sander is built for when the job is small, local or hard to reach.

01Is it suitable for spot repairs?+
Yes. Localized blasting minimizes unnecessary work on surrounding areas and reduces setup time.
02Is it suitable for maintenance work?+
Yes. Maintenance is one of its strongest applications because of its fast setup and portability.
03Why is portability important?+
Many maintenance jobs are performed on-site or at height where moving a compressor is difficult. A portable electric blasting tool reduces setup time and improves productivity.
04Can it be used on site rather than in a workshop?+
Yes, and that is the point of it. There is no compressor, blast pot or air line to bring along. The machine runs from a standard 230–240 V socket on a 2 m cable, so a mains supply or a generator is all that is needed to work on site.
05How small an area can it treat?+
Small enough for localised repair. The recommended working distance is 15–20 cm and the grit flow is adjustable, so removal can be kept inside the damaged area instead of stripping back the surrounding coating. That keeps both the repair and the recoating contained.
06Can it prepare a repair area before recoating?+
Yes. Abrasive blasting removes corrosion and loose coating and leaves a clean anchor profile for the new coating to key into. Which surface preparation standard you can reach depends on the abrasive chosen and on the condition of the substrate underneath.
07Does spot work still need containment?+
Usually yes. The treated area is smaller than in full blasting, but abrasive and removed coating still leave the surface. Plan containment and collection to suit the site, and follow the protective equipment guidance before any work starts.
